"Real angels singing caught on tape" is the 13th solo album by the Copenhagen musician and producer, Claus Poulsen, exploring minimal electronic ambient sounds. CP's output began to take an ambient turn on 2018's "Starry Womb" and "Pisco's Morning", and this album takes a further step into this territory, descending deep into the zone. It also marks the first time that Claus has called on other musicians to contribute, with Norwegian buddy and Star Turbine bandmate Sindre Bjerga playing a plastic fishing game on "Relaxations" and fellow Copenhagen musician Marco Winther adding ambient guitar to "Saturday Night Corona Fever (Rust Sleeps)".

"Movement opening worlds - concrete real sounds to harmonic electronic soundscapes - light hearted, symphonic - heartbeat, deepens the travel - finding the human soul yourself - raga / experimenting with a few notes.

I live very close to a disco which is closed at the moment. I made a field recording out of my window Saturday evening, which is normally a lot of people shouting, but now only a very few talking quietly and a few bikes riding by... that's why "rust sleeps" like an angel went through the street."

"Poulsen uses too many sounds to fully lie down and relax, but that happens to be exactly the sort of ambient that I like. In the opening 'Relaxations', he starts by spinning a web of synthesizer sounds and fishing sounds (courtesy of mister Bjerga), which then, gradually cross over into a darker percussive pulse, which has very little do with ambient, but it sounds very intense and horror-like, including 'rattle in the cornfields' sort of sounds. This could easily have been two totally different pieces, but that is perhaps the improviser that Poulsen also is, cobbling various bits into a bigger thing. This is, altogether, a great release with the sort of ambient music I enjoy a lot and at thirty-five minutes a bit too short for my taste; we want more!" FRANS DE WAARD, VITAL WEEKLY 1265
